This is part two of the promised Q&A episode, which wound up being so long I cut it in half to make it more manageable.
WARNING: this is the long-winded version which runs for over an hour in total. I’ll put a single, cut-down version on the Podiobooks.com feed soon, so if you don’t want to listen to the entire thing, wait and download the edited highlights when they’re available.

I thought it was extremely entertaining, not least because I find I’m not dim after all - the characters themselves don’t know everything about the story.
If somebody else can find the link to the Podiobooker interview, please post a link. Thanks!

Gail,
I don’t think the interview with Zan has made the transition to Chris Moody’s new site yet. I found http://podiomediachat.chrismoody.net/, which I believe is the new site, but that’s all I have to offer at the moment.

Thanks, Vibeeen, I found even less than that! And looks like what I thought I found was… not right.

Hi all,
Here is a link to the interview I did with Zan back in August. You can find it at: http://podiomediachat.chrismoody.net/archives/51

Thanks, Chris. I hadn’t realised it was up already!

Thanks, Chris, now podiomediachat is handily bookmarked, I’m glad to know about it.

@Zan: yeah it just went up over the weekend
@gail: Thanks
I do hope you’ll subscribe!

Thanks Zan, for that very interesting insight into your writing process, and for clearing up the things that I didn’t follow. It all makes sense now.
I notice that you haven’t yet put a “Nominated for Parsec Award” shield on The Corridor entry in www.podiobooks.com. Some of the other nominees have, and it really makes their entries stand out in the lists.
September 27th, 2007 at 7:04 pm
To be honest, I’d feel a bit self-conscious about having ‘nominated for Parsec Award’ on the listing. Because it’s possible for authors to nominate themselves, it really means nothing; The Corridor could have no listeners at all and still receive that distinction.
In any event, I don’t have any control over the Podiobooks listing - it’s administered by the people at Podiobooks.com, and they haven’t bothered to put that up. I can’t see myself nagging them about it.
September 27th, 2007 at 11:41 pm
um, where were you going to display the “Nominated for Parsec Award” if not at Podiobooks? Have you put it here on your own site? You worked on the entry for just that reason.

In the middle of last year I bought an iPod, discovered podcasting, and returned to the gym after a long break. When The Corridor had a new episode out, I made sure to load it so I could listen to the story while working out. I soon realized that the theme music was fantastic for lifting weights. I was often surprised at how much I could get done while the intro played!
The rest is history.

Gail - have you tried A-B Repeat on your iPod? That way you could cycle the theme tune over and over until you dropped from exhaustion!

What I’ve wondered about is taking the episodes apart and putting the music parts back together - for purposes of exhaustion only, of course.
One problem is that I’m fairly sure the composer would object.
Another is I don’t have the software.
The main one is that I don’t know how.
So instead I nag Zan, which is more fun and has more possibility of working.

Hi Zebulon,
I’ve had VCRs and DVD players with A-B repeat, but I can find this on any of my iPods. How are you doing this on yours?

Erm… well, I actually have an iriver T10 MP3 player and it has a dedicated AB Repeat button on the top.
I’ve never had an iPod, so before I wrote the comment above I had a quick Google for an iPod spec and it said it did have an AB Repeat:

Scroll down to the bottom - Playback Modes.
It’s been on all the MP3 players I’ve ever used. I didn’t imagine iPods wouldn’t have it, so, to answer your question I just scanned through an iPod manual at www.apple.com. Shock! I can’t see anything in it telling me how to make an iPod do AB Repeat.
Maybe iPods don’t have this feature after all? It would be a shame if not - I find AB Repeat ever so useful if I can’t understand something I hear and I want to go over it a few times.

Hey Zebulon,
I got a look at a SanDisk MP3 player today, and I see what you mean. The A-B feature is quite prominent. I’m pretty sure iPods don’t do that, being something of the local Apple go-to guy. But now I can see why it would be surprising they don’t!

I’ve made a short promo and put a link to it on the sidebar. I may make the longer one available, too (although I’m not sure that anyone would use it). In any event, I’ll start sending the short one out to other podcasts, etc.
