This abrupt beginning to the music gives it a big boost. The single electric note was good, but didn’t make me jump out of my skin the way the drums do.
You’re ahead of me, Gail. I don’t know what activated the bone, nor why it doesn’t affect Julie. It is amusing what Durrin did to avoid more serious harm, but I wonder if that’s going to have repercussions among his other aspects, or even to himself directly. Can his own actions trigger his magical shielding? Guess we’ll have to wait, though I expect the Prodromos will quickly become acutely aware of what’s happening at the bordello.
I like this part, because it’s a bonus of sorts. I had felt Julie was a transitional character to get Stuart further along his path during the early going. I could sense that some of those early plot elements would return, but Julie’s direct involvement in the endgame is intriguing, and I haven’t a clue where it’ll lead.
I love it when all the story lines come together and you realize that it’s all one story after all. And when you go back and read/listen from the beginning, you realize it always was one story but only the author knew it.
Oh, yesterday I found that the music is especially impressive when the volume is (accidentally) turned all the way up.

Haven’t listened yet. Is this the chapter I will learn the significance of the bone? This is exciting, I’ve been curious ever since it appeared!!

I thought of you when I was recording it, Gail. It doesn’t necessarily exhaust the bone’s significance, but it goes a long way towards doing so.

I really should have known what would activate The Bone, but the way it worked was quite interesting. Julie did some good work here!
